We talk about the California wine industry being in its infancy, but many times we neglect to consider the deep history that existed before Prohibition. To Kalon was originally planted to Mondeuse, and the Foothills (where the Rorick vineyard resides) were planted during the Gold Rush to Verdelho, Chenin, Riesling, Trousseau and Mondeuse. This history has been long since buried, but Matthew Rorick can't help to wonder what the California wine industry would have looked like today if Prohibition had never come to pass.
Matthew Rorick picks up where this story left off. Taste six vintages of Verdelho of Forlorn Hope with owner/winemaker Matthew Rorick on July 10th. Seating is extremely limited - 15 seats are available and you can reserve yours here.
